August Round-Up: Sunshine, Summer Fun & Celebrating Progress

        Extensive training and development
        Fostering allowance from £450 p/w
        Excellent support 24/7
A friendly and highly experienced team

As the summer holidays come to a close, we’re looking back on what has been a truly fantastic August here at EFS. With sunshine, seaside trips, sweet treats, and plenty of shared laughter, we’ve packed the month full of connection, creativity, and community.

        Summer Adventures and Smiles

We made the most of the brilliant weather this month with a series of fun-filled outings and events for our children and carers. In Thetford, we hosted a joyful day packed with activities including our very own Bake Off, the ever-popular Cheerio Game, and plenty of sunshine-fuelled fun.

Meanwhile in Walton, nothing says summer quite like fish and chips by the sea—and that’s exactly what we enjoyed! It was a wonderful chance for everyone to relax, chat, and soak in the fresh sea air.

The highlight of the summer, however, was our unforgettable trip to Mersea. With a packed programme of games, activities, and team-building fun, Mersea was truly a celebration of everything that makes our fostering community so special. From water sports to team challenges and laughter around the camp, the memories made at Mersea will stay with us for a long time.

Star of the Month: E 🌟
This month’s well-deserved Star of the Month goes to E, whose incredible progress really stood out during summer camp. We were also particularly moved by how warmly you welcomed new members into your household—you continue to inspire us all. Well done, E!

        Welcome to Our New Carers

We’re thrilled to welcome Kelly and Tyrone, who were officially approved at Panel this month. Congratulations to you both—we’re so excited to have you join our fostering family!

Teamwork at Its Best: Escape Room Challenge

Our My Best Family Fosters team took on the escape room challenge this month—and cracked it in an impressive 54 minutes! A huge well done to everyone involved. What a great example of communication, trust, and teamwork in action!

Choices for Young Voices: Sharing Ideas and Looking Ahead

This month’s Choices for Young Voices group was a time for reflection and looking ahead. We talked about your favourite activities from the year so far (with summer camp winning top marks!) and shared ideas for future events and improvements.

We also reviewed the child’s voice section of the application forms received in recent weeks — thank you for your thoughtful and honest input into discussions around potential new applicants to EFS.

A Big Thank You to Steph

Lastly, a big thank you to Steph, who delivered Sextortion training for our young people this month. Your commitment to supporting and educating our children is truly appreciated.

        Looking Ahead to September

As we head into a new school year, we’re feeling energised, proud, and excited for what’s to come. Thank you to all our carers, children, staff, and supporters for making August one to remember.

Here’s to a bright and brilliant September!
